In 2014, the university made final steps towards the adoption of a new strategic process for WLU - the IPRM (Integrated Planning and Resource Management). Students, independently and within a group called Laurier Student Voices, organized around the issue. Sit-ins and protests were executed. The faculty, mostly around WLUFA, the faculty union, also voiced their discontent. Despite these objections, the IPRM was adopted and is now a guiding process of the university.
