Join us this Wednesday, June 4 at 6:00pm in the LSPIRG office (165 Albert, 3rd floor) for the first LSPIRG Doc Night where we'll be screening The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975. Presented in partnership with ABS Laurier.

THE BLACK POWER MIXTAPE 1967-1975 mobilizes a treasure trove of 16mm material shot by Swedish journalists who came to the US drawn by stories of urban unrest and revolution. Gaining access to many of the leaders of the Black Power Movement—Stokely Carmichael, Bobby Seale, Angela Davis and Eldridge Cleaver among them—the filmmakers captured them in intimate moments and remarkably unguarded interviews

We're working on a brand new PIRGer, an original LSPIRG publication that focuses on both local and global social justice issues. For the month of June, our theme will be 'Anti-Oppression' and we'd love to receive your article submissions! We are looking for short (300-400 words) articles that focus on anti-oppression and that tie in one of the following themes: class, gender, environment, or race.

Are you interested in sharing your ideas on a campus, community, or global issue that fits within our themes? Please send your submissions to no later than Friday, May 30th at 11:59PM.

Please feel free to share this call with other students, staff, faculty & community members. The first issue of the 2014-15 PIRGer will be out June 6th, 2014. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
